Doctoral Candidates Active in Academics and Practice

Jason A. Smith, doctoral candidate of Curriculum and Instruction and Dr. Crystal Machado, Professional Studies in Education, presented a co-authored paper titled “The ‘American Educational Experience’ in a Predominantly White Rural Community as Described by International Students: An Opportunity to Redefine Priorities” at the American Educational Research Association Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA, in April, 2014.

Sasha Reese, doctoral candidate of Curriculum and Instruction, will present a paper, "The Journey to College from Special Education: A Case Study in Transition Support," at the New England Educational Research Organization Conference (NEERO) in West Dover, VT, in May 2014.

John W. Zesiger, Administration and Leadership Studies doctoral candidate’s district was chosen by the Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools to receive the CREC-PARRS Building Community through Rural Education Award and a check for $250 for his ambitious and innovative Teaching Student Leadership Program.
