The IUP community has a lot to celebrate concerning the University Family Drive, which concluded April 4. Gifts surpassed the goal, and if you participated, you are invited to the victory celebration on Monday, April 14, 2014.
Commitments made during drive, when added to those made by
employees since the beginning of the fiscal year, bring the total
raised from university family members to $162,362 for 206
different departments, program, and scholarship funds within the
Foundation for IUP.
A total of 738 faculty and staff members made charitable commitments to IUP, well surpassing the goal of 550. Participation increased overall to 47 percent of all employees. Two years ago, participation in the drive was at just 15 percent, according to Emily Smeltz, director of Annual Giving. Of those who gave this year, 184 had never before given to IUP.
“The response is overwhelming,” Smeltz said. “I can’t express enough thanks to our 51 volunteers around campus for helping us reach so many people and to help articulate the drive’s importance. After all, when you invest in IUP, you invest in our common cause—and that speaks volumes to all the people off campus we ask to support our university.”
The victory celebration for those who gave will be held Monday, April 14, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Blue Room in John Sutton Hall. President Michael Driscoll will make remarks at 3:00 p.m.
