Female students working together at computerThe IUP Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) organization will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. in Stright 331.

The club was formed by Computer Science majors Lisa Vatavuk and Jayde Ferney to help efforts of retaining female students at IUP in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics majors.

The new club, IUP Women in STEM, will function as a mentoring program. Older students will be paired with younger students in their field, forming a structure for both academic support and networking.

The club will also give members an opportunity to raise awareness of accomplishments made by women in their fields and help club members prepare for life after graduation from IUP.

More information will be available on Facebook and on Twitter from @IUPWomenInSTEM.
