Writing Center Lunch and Learn Presentation

Eicher Hall, Room 218

Friday, April 11 | 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Luis AlmeidaVideos from TED and TEDx are all over the Internet, providing down-to-earth stories and insight on everything from the criminal justice system to using Wii remotes in classrooms. Joining the ranks of these storytellers is Communications Media professor Luis Almeida, who gave a TEDx talk in October 2013 and will share his behind-the-scenes look at the TEDx process on Friday, April 11, at the Writing Center.

Almeida compares what he went through to what students go through to find a job. Both are processes "that requires dreaming, endurance, preparation, rejection, perseverance, practice, trying, losing, winning." Almeida will share his experience with preparing for his six-minute talk and relate how students can use the same techniques before public speaking events or interviews.

Light refreshments will be provided at the Lunch and Learn, and attendees are encouraged to bring lunch to eat during the talk. The IUP Writing Center is located in 218 Eicher Hall, between Wallwork and Folger Halls.
