Gloria Park (English Department) and her two graduate assistants, Jocelyn Amevuvor and Ravyn McKee, will present “Preparing Teachers to Teach English as an Additional Language: A Critical Look at the U.S., the State, and the PASSHE.”
The presenters discuss the status of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in the U.S. as well as in the state of Pennsylvania, and the PASSHE. The overview presentation will highlight the statistics of the U.S. TESOL programs and how the state of Pennsylvania and the PASSHE are meeting the needs of increasing English as an additional language (EAL) students in the K-20 educational contexts. This presentation focuses on program policy issue as well as the long- and short-term curricular planning for preparing EAL students within and beyond the PASSHE, Pennsylvania, and the U.S.
