IUP Trumpet Studio presents TrumpetFest 2014

TrumpetFest 2014 is scheduled for February 22–24, and will feature performances by IUP trumpet students and faculty.

Among the recitals being presented during the weekend are:

Friday, February 21

  • 8:00 — Faculty recital

Saturday, February 22

  • 2:00 — Clinic by the Wildcat Regiment Band
  • 4:00 — Trumpet studio recital
  • 6:00 — Rachel Di Pilla and Rebekah Hiravi, junior trumpet recital
  • 8:00 — Concert by the Wildcat Regiment Band

Sunday, February 23

  • 1:00 — Katie Bohannon (trumpet) and Cortney Foote (clarinet)
  • 3:00 — Mason Stiver (trumpet) and Eileen Kane (french horn)
  • 5:00 — Jacob Try (trumpet) and Nate Lease (trombone)

Kevin Eisensmith and Karen Sloneker, trumpet professors at IUP, will present a recital of music for trumpet and other instruments on Friday evening, February 21, at 8:00 p.m. Assisting will be Jacob Ertl, assistant professor of Piano in the Department of Music, along with L. Mark Carver, piano.

On Saturday, February 22, the Wildcat Regiment Band will perform a concert of music from the 19th century. The Wildcat Regiment Band, from Indiana, Pa., is patterned after the ensemble of the same name that was formed in 1861. Featured will be music from that era performed on authentic instruments. Eisensmith will be featured as soloist on a few of the selections.

All events will be held in Gorell Hall and are free and open to the general public.
