This semester’s Lunch and Learn series at the Writing Center kicks off Friday, February 7, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. with “Writing with Podcasts” in 218 Eicher Hall.
Doctoral student Adam Colton (Literature and Criticism) will discuss technical elements of creating a podcast, such as open source software for recording and distributing podcasts. More importantly, he’ll explain how he uses podcasts in his classes as part of the pre-writing and editing process.
“The simple act of recording your voice while working through the brainstorming and outlining stages can help writers break through some of the common barriers we all face when staring at a blank Word document,” Colton said. “Recording yourself while reading your paper can be a helpful tool in the editing process.”
Friday’s event will be a presentation and discussion, so students and faculty are encouraged to come with questions or writing. Attendees are also welcome to bring a lunch to eat in the Writing Center during the discussion.
