Because data has been publicly available on relevant indices since 2006, there is is standardized data that has allowed for empirical examination of program performance. In particular, the study highlighted programs “that produced exceptionally better outcomes than expected, given their predoctoral characteristics.” Using rigorous empirical procedures, the authors examined a sample of 183 accredited Clinical Psychology doctoral programs (74.3 percent were PhD programs) from the years 2006 to 2010. IUP’s Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology was ranked in the top 10 programs nationally for the rate of students passing the national Examination for the Professional Practice of Psychology.
