Student Scholars Forums Scheduled for April 2014

Posted on 12/2/2013 12:51:28 PM

The ninth annual Undergraduate Scholars Forum (USF) will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, and the fourth annual Graduate Scholars Forum (GSF) will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

The purpose of these conferences is to provide IUP students across all disciplines with an opportunity to present their original research, scholarly activities, teacher work samples, or creative works. The events are cosponsored by the Office of the President and the School of Graduate Studies and Research.

Submissions to the forums are accepted from all undergraduate and graduate students at IUP who demonstrate outstanding accomplishment in scholarly activity within their discipline. Presentations must represent high-quality work that goes beyond the typical classroom assignment, and they must have a faculty sponsor who will attest to the quality of the work.

Students graduating in December are eligible to submit a proposal to the forums; however, it is highly recommended that the student arrange to be present to share their work.

Submissions are due by 5:00 p.m. on February 21, 2014. Access the proposal submission systems at the USF and GSF websites.

There are different presentation types to meet the needs of various disciplines. The USF and GSF will allow the following types of presentations. You can find descriptions of these at the Forum details website.

  • Oral paper presentations
  • Poster presentations
  • Business case competition (USF only)
  • Performances/exhibits
  • Juried art exhibit

Forum details are available at the Undergraduate Scholars Forum website and at the Graduate Scholars Forum website. We hope that you will look for students who are demonstrating excellence in scholarship and encourage them to share their accomplishments with the IUP community at the Undergraduate and Graduate Scholars Forums.
