Baby Wants Candy to Work with Area and IUP Students

Billed by The New York Times as, “Truly Amazing! Critics’ Pick!” and Chicago Magazine as the “Best Comedy In Chicago,” Baby Wants Candy brings their improvisational experience and expertise to Indiana in presenting two musical improvisation workshops.

The first workshop is 5:00–10:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013, in room 126 of Cogswell Hall, and will feature James Rushin (musical director) and Erica Elam (Los Angeles cast member) working with IUP theater students. All IUP students and community members interested in improvisation are invited to audit to learn more about this exciting and unique art form.

The second workshop is at Indiana Area Senior High School, 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m., on Monday, November 18, 2013, and will again feature James Rushin and Erica Elam as they work with Indiana high school students.

An exciting component to this educational outreach is that participating IUP theater and Indiana High School students will have the opportunity to perform with the BWC cast on the first half of their 8:00 p.m. performance on Tuesday, November 19, at the Indiana High School Auditorium.  Absolutely every moment of the performance—both the first half with students and the second half featuring a completely improvised musical based on a title suggested by the audience—is completely improvised!  Be sure to join.

If you enjoyed Whose Line Is It Anyway with Drew Carey, you will greatly appreciate the improvisational genius of Baby Wants Candy.

For more information on the workshops or performance, contact Jeff Wacker at, or the Lively Arts at (724) 357-2787. Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors/groups, and $12 for I-Card holders and children, and are on sale now at the HUB ticket office (724-357-1313) or through IUP Tickets.
