On Thursday, November 14, 2013, IUP Safety Sciences will host one of the few sites for the nationwide safety stand down for the oil and gas industry. This event is open to students and faculty and will take place in Stabley 210 from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
This is a day in which (in theory) every company in the industry across the country will stop for 30 minutes and talk about safety. In addition, there are Web-based speakers lined up for the morning, including David Michaels (assistant secretary of Labor for OSHA) and the head of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. A variety of subjects will be discussed, including silica and videos of safety related incidents.
