On Monday evening, October 28, as part of the Six O’Clock Series and in celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, IUP is pleased to host speaker Veronica Villalobos, director for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion with the federal Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in Washington, D.C.

Villalobos will address the topic of inclusive diversity in the workplace, with a particular emphasis on the employment of persons with disabilities. Her presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Ohio Room of the Hadley Union Building (HUB) on IUP’s main campus.

Villalobos comes to IUP as a highly recommended speaker with an impressive array of experience. In her role with the OPM, she manages government-wide diversity efforts to develop, drive, and monitor strategies and initiatives designed to create a more diverse and inclusive federal workforce. Prior to her current position, Villalobos built an impressive career with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) as one of the agency’s first Honor Program attorneys. While at the EEOC, she also served for a time as its director of the Office of Equal Opportunity.

In addition to Villalobos’s presentation, IUP’s Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs will announce the 2013 recipients of the annual Ray Coppler Award, developed to honor and give special recognition to a student and a faculty/staff/administrative member for exemplary contributions to disability education, awareness, and inclusiveness at IUP.
