La'Nier Corbett was named as the September Punxsutawney Person of Purpose. The monthly award recognizes the student who is most actively involved in classroom participation and out-of-classroom opportunities.

The recognition reinforces the critical value of passion, persistence, and purpose in achieving meaningful success. Award recipients are chosen from faculty nominations and activity and event participation records.

Corbett attended the annual health fair, three Six O’Clock Series presentations, and the September 22 Banned Books celebration. She is an active member of the IUP Punxsutawney Ambassadors. Corbett was nominated by two of her faculty members.

The September runner-up is Brittany Schaeffer, and honorable mention goes to Shydiyah Gardner, Jalisa Lucas, Dominique Shepherd, and Arian Zaman.
