It’s a bird… it’s a plane… no, it’s a remote control helicopter!

On Tuesday, October 1, 2013 the IUP Communications Office will be working with 7 Line Media to get video of the university for advertising and other informational videos about the university. Part of the footage will be shot by a video camera on a remote control helicopter. The helicopter is about 24 inches in circumference at its widest point. It has been used on many university campuses and locations, including Heinz Field and areas with large populations, with no safety issues.

We do not anticipate significant noise or any disruption to pedestrians or to classes during this time, but we wanted to inform the campus about this project in case of concerns about “unidentified flying objects” overhead!

The tentative schedule for filming is 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Grove and around Sutton Hall; 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. around the residence halls and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. Under no circumstances will footage be shot through windows of residence halls or other private areas.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact Michelle Fryling, (724) 357-2302.
