ALS Graduate Dr. Cynthia Bradley KingAdministration and Leadership Studies graduate Cynthia Bradley-King ’06 never envisioned being able to utilize her administration skills in higher learning; and certainly not in her hometown alma mater! But, that is exactly what happened when she graduated with her Ph.D. and accepted a faculty appointment with the University of Pittsburgh as field assistant professor and academic coordinator in the Child Welfare Education for Baccalaureates program in the university’s School of Social Work.

“This is a dream position, and I am so thankful I listened to a friend when she suggested I check out the new Ph.D. program at IUP,” Cynthia said. Obtaining her degree was not easy, as Cynthia endured a 62 mile commute to campus as well as “every kind of adversity imaginable, including a parent dying, raising four school-aged children, changing jobs, illness, and moving.”  But Cynthia is glad she stuck with the program at this point!

“I was pleasantly surprised with my coursework and also that I was able to graduate and find great employment almost immediately,” she said. “My faculty advisors were wonderful; they nurtured me and assisted me every step of the way. I could not have had a better experience, and the degree certainly opened doors I had only dreamed of stepping through before.”

Congratulations, Cynthia, on your exciting faculty position!  We look forward to hearing more about your many accomplishments as you continue living your dream as a leader scholar.
