Nine McNair scholars traveled to Niagara Falls, New York, to attend the 19th annual National McNair Research Conference and Graduate School Fair, sponsored by SUNY–Buffalo, on July 11–14, 2013.
The scholars were accompanied by Calvin Masilela, director of the IUP Trio Programs and professor of Geography and Regional Planning, and Hilary Staples, assistant director of the McNair program.
Eight scholars presented their research, including Clark Aitkins, Religious Studies; Laura Bennett, Psychology; Amanda Henretty, Interior Design; Cherise Key, Exercise Science; Joshua Riffe, Physical Education and Sport; Shawn Rooney, Geography and Political Science; Katie Stanko, Psychology; and Kimberly Waddy, Political Science and International Studies. Kelley Banahasky, Sociology, participated as an attendee.
The McNair program would like to thank the following faculty mentors who have guided these scholars in their original research projects: Alison Downie, Laura Knight, Julie Gomboc-Turyan, Madeline Pasternoster-Bayles, Donald Buckwalter, Tara Johnson, Dighton Fiddner, and Susan Boser.
