Emily Weber, of Souderton, a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, has been selected for the William D. Greenlee scholarship from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Foundation, Inc.

Weber is the daughter of Michael and Judy Weber, formerly of Souderton. She is a 2010 graduate of Souderton Area High School and a journalism and English major in the Robert E. Cook Honors College at IUP. She is a contributing writer for the Indiana Gazette, an intern for the IUP Strategic Visioning Project, the communications manager for IUP’s Writing Center, and the president of the Sigma Tau Delta English honor society.

The William D. Greenlee Scholarship was founded by Greenlee Partners to honor William (Bill) Greenlee, founder of the firm. Among his numerous accomplishments throughout his career, Greenlee was most proud of his service to the community through a number of local charities. One of his contributions was to serve as the chair of the board of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Foundation, Inc.

Students who apply for this scholarship must major in political science, journalism, or communications and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Weber has also been the recent recipient of various scholarships, including the Women in Communications scholarship from the Pittsburgh Foundation, the Emily A. Fabiny scholarship, the Virginia A. Deem scholarship from the IUP Journalism Department, and the International Foodservice Editorial Council scholarship.
