The Carol Teti Memorial Organ Scholarship Committee is pleased to present three pre-college age students in the seventh annual Carol Teti Memorial Organ Competition at Zion Lutheran Church this Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 1:00 p.m.

The scholarship committee, which raises funds for students to study organ at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, began the competition in order to encourage young organ students. Prizes are awarded in the amounts of $750 for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place.

Each contestant has gone through a preliminary round of adjudication through a recorded submission process to reach the final round of competition. The competition is presented in a recital format, with each student having 25 minutes to perform a variety of selections. The level of playing is quite high, with previous winners continuing on to study organ as schools such as the University of Michigan, Juilliard, and Oberlin.

This year's adjudicator is James Kibbie from the University of Michigan. As part of the organ scholarship weekend, Kibbie is performing a solo recital at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5, also at Zion Lutheran Church. More on Kibbie, his recital, and the preceding fund-raising dinner may be found here.

Both recitals are free and the public is invited. All audience members are also invited to a reception immediately afterwards. For more information on the competition, please e-mail Christine Clewell at
