The IUP Department of Music presents the IUP Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band under the direction of Jack Stamp and Jason Worzbyt. This, their first concert of the Spring 2013 semester, will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium.
The performance will feature guest conductor and composer Samuel Hazo as well as two world premieres by the IUP Wind Ensemble. Both world premieres are by IUP Music Department alumnus Anthony O’Toole.
The first premiere is entitled “Fanfare to ‘The Hammer’,” written as a gift to Jack Stamp celebrating the legacy of baseball great Hank Aaron. The second premiere is a transcription of a well-known orchestral work, “Toward the Splendid City,” by New York composer Richard Danielpour.
This concert will also feature guest conductor Stephanie Caulder and oboe soloist and IUP Music Department alumnus Hannah Senft performing Jean Francaix’s “Flower Clock.”
Tickets are available in advance at the Hadley Union Building and will be available at the door starting at 2:00 p.m. the afternoon of the concert. Tickets are $9 regular admission, $8 discount, and $6 for students and children.
