Katherine Brean, an executive in human resources at Redstone Highlands Senior Living Communities, was recently awarded the prestigious Susan R. Meisinger Fellowship for Graduate Study in HR at the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) Leadership Conference on November 16, 2012, in National Harbor, Md.
“Words cannot express how grateful and honored I feel to have been selected for the Susan Meisinger Fellowship award,” said Brean. “I am proud of my work and commitment in the HR profession, and it is truly exciting to be recognized in this way. I am looking forward to my master’s studies in employment and labor relations. I hope to use my education and experience to make positive contributions in my organization and within the human resources community.” Brean is using the fellowship to fund her master’s degree in Employment and Labor Relations from IUP.
The fellowship, endowed by SHRM and affiliates—the HR Certification Institute and the SHRM Foundation—is named after former SHRM president and CEO Susan R. Meisinger. Selection is based on leadership, work experience in HR, demonstrated community involvement, and undergraduate academic achievement.
