A food drive held by the Student Marketing Association (SMA) on December 7, 2012, at the S&T Bank arena suceeded in providing several boxes of donated food to the Indiana County Community Action Program. ICCAP provides care to low-income families in the Indiana County area.
The food drive took place during the hockey game featuring IUP vs. Pitt. SMA accepted donations of canned and nonperishable items, giving each donor entering the game a ticket to get in for free and submitting them in a raffle.
“We sold almost all our raffle tickets. The turnout was great, and IUP won 2-0 against Pitt,” said Bryndan Violette, president of SMA.
The members of SMA plan to host more events in the Spring 2013 semester that allow them to get involved with the community and help those in need.
