The Health and Physical Education Department (HPED) at IUP started its program for homeschooling families on October 18, 2012, in Zink Hall.

The program is designed to promote physical activity and positive social interactions for local homeschooling children. There are 105 children currently enrolled, ranging from pre-K through 11th grade. Students within the HPED department gain experience by facilitating activities such as physical education classes, swim lessons, and fitness training for the parents. Students from the Child and Family Studies Department also help by working with the children ages two to four.

Starting in the Spring semester, the program will be linked to five separate courses in order to provide students with real-life experiences and content application.
