Jennifer Nielsen received the Margaret Mahler Outstanding Student in Adult and Community Education Award for 2012. This award is given annually to the student in adult and community education who best exemplifies the spirit of lifelong learning.
Jennifer, who lives in Pittsburgh, was recognized for her outstanding academic work and her involvement in the arts and nonprofit communities in the greater Pittsburgh area. One of Jennifer’s accomplishments was an innovative and original research study on the use of social media for marketing and public relations by nonprofit organizations. In addition, she authored an article entitled “Exploring the Meaning of Learning and Community,” which was published in the PAACE Journal of Lifelong Learning.
