John Wesley Lowery of the Department of Student Affairs in Higher Education was recently presented with the College of Education and Educational Technology’s Faculty Recognition Award. Since 1995, this award has been presented to faculty members in the college to acknowledge outstanding leadership, service, and teaching.
In her letter of nomination, Linda Hall, former chair of the department, noted the significance of Lowery’s contributions and the degree to which they capitalize on his expertise as a scholar, teacher, and administrator. She writes, “Dr. Lowery is incredibly helpful and continuously ‘steps up’ to guide or lead many of important programs within the department. He is highly regarded in our field and his reputation brings status to our department, to the college, and to IUP.”
The award was presented to Lowery by Ed Nardi, interim dean of the college, on Friday, August 24, 2012, at the college’s annual faculty meeting.
