The IUP Eberly College of Business and Information Technology held its 22nd annual Business Golf Classic on Monday, July 30, 2012, at the beautiful Longue Vue Golf Club. The event is held annually to raise scholarship funding for students, and it generated over $30,000.

Eighty-eight college alumni and friends formed 22 foursomes and enjoyed a grilled luncheon, a day of golf, and a reception.

S&T Bank served as corporate sponsor for the event, and Aramark served as the gold sponsor. Silver sponsors included the Nadav Baum Group, BPU Investment Management, Inc. (alumni Nadav Baum ’85), iPipeline (alumni Tim Wallace ’75), Terry A. Serafini ’61, Red Vector – Care 2 Learn (alumni Tom Wallace ’80), and S&T Wealth Management and Stewart Capital Advisors LLC (Malcolm Polley). There were a number of foursome sponsors, a driving range sponsor, tee sponsors, and prize sponsors.

University Council of Trustee members Susan Delaney and Gealy Wallwork were presented awards from the IUP Business Golf Classic Committee for “Enduring Leadership and Service.” Both Susan and Gealy have participated in the golf event over the years and were recognized for their long-term commitment to the university, their impact on the business community, and their support of the Eberly College of Business.

Two golf scholarship recipients, Patrick Rossiter and Kayla Griffith, spoke at the reception. Both expressed their appreciation to the group and indicated how important the scholarship funding has been in their ability to afford their education.

Event cochair Nadav Baum ’85 was one of the founders of the event and indicated that “he really appreciated the fact that many individuals and companies stepped up to participate and to support the scholarship program.” Nadav encouraged sponsors and other participants to continue their support each year, and he hopes that other alumni and friends join the event.

Cyndy Strittmatter ’83, M’87, assistant dean for the Eberly College of Business and IT, is the Eberly coordinator for the Golf Classic and said that “the skies were blue, the course was beautiful, and the participants seemed to really enjoy the event.” She indicated that the scholarships fundraising event will be held again next summer at the Longue Vue Club. “Save the Date” notices will be issued.
