The Department of Music and the Department of Theater and Dance at IUP will present, as part of its Sound Choices and Dance Theater series, Wind Dances. The production will be presented at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2012, for one performance only in Fisher Auditorium of IUP's Performing Arts Center.
This collaboration between the IUP Dance Theater and the Chamber Winds Ensemble brings a unique and entertaining combination of sights and sounds to the the music of Gordon Jacob, Igor Stravinsky, and Malcolm Arnold. The event promises exceptional music made visual through whimsical and humorous spectacle.
With musical direction by Jack Stamp and directed by Holly Boda-Sutton, this production includes the choreography of guest artist Heather Taylor-Martin, along with Joan Van Dyke and Anna Ponak-Shively.
Taylor-Martin has danced with West Virginia Dance Company, the Kitchen Sink Dance Company of New York, Nadia Tarr, Attack Theatre, and the Pittsburgh Opera.
Tickets are available in advance at the Hadley Union Building, located on Pratt Drive of the IUP campus, and online at IUPTickets.com. Tickets will also be sold at the door starting one hour before the performance. Tickets are $14 regular admission, $12 for senior citizens and groups of 15 or more, and $8 with a university I-Card.
