IUP Libraries to Host Training on ebrary Academic Complete and ProQuest Newsstand

Join us on March 8, 2012, in Stabley 201 at 1:00 p.m. for a training session on ebrary Academic Complete and ProQuest Newsstand.

ebrary has announced that more than 70,000 titles in all academic subject areas are available through the Academic Complete database This database is the industry’s largest and most affordable e-book subscription database with content from over 500 trusted publishers and unlimited access for IUP-affiliated users. Recently named to the CHOICE Outstanding Academic Titles list, e-books in Academic Complete are also now discoverable on the ProQuest platform.

Sharon Palchak, M.L.I.S., customer education and training specialist from ProQuest, will help you to learn more about ebrary and ProQuest Newsstand, two unique resources available through IUP Libraries. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and share feedback.

  • ebrary offers the most powerful tools for discovering, using, and managing e-books. More than 500 of the world’s most authoritative publishers distribute e-books via ebrary. Training will cover basic and advanced search features, searching text, creating notes and highlighting, InfoTools, personal Bookshelf accounts, and more.
  • ProQuest Newsstand provides unparalleled access to the full text of over 1,300 newspapers, news websites, and blogs from leading newspapers around the world such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, Guardian, and many other local, regional, and national titles. Training will cover advanced search options, faceted navigation, e-mail/RSS alerts, and more.
