John A. Mueller, of the Department of Student Affairs in Higher Education, has co-authored a chapter for a newly released book that analyzes higher education’s success in achieving its objective to create welcoming and engaging campus environments for all students.

The chapter, titled “Who We Were is Part of Who We Are,” places diversity, access, and inclusion in its historical context by tracing the participation of historically marginalized constituency groups in higher education and analyzing the evolving definition of diversity over the history of higher education in the United States.

The book, Why Aren't We There Yet? Taking Responsibility for Creating an Inclusive Campus, is edited by Jan Arminio, Vasti Torres, and Raechele L. Pope (a 1981 alumna of IUP) and is available from Stylus Publishing.
