Alcoa Gifts Provide Funding for Student Experience and Professional Development

Posted on 1/31/2012 11:12:26 AM

IUP's Safety Sciences Department recently became the beneficiary of two gifts from Alcoa and the Alcoa Foundation.

A $35,000 gift from Alcoa will directly benefit students through scholarships and the enhancement of lab and field experiences. It also will fund the expenses of a team of students who will compete in an accident investigation competition sponsored by the Alcoa Campus Partnership.

A $100,000 gift from the Alcoa Foundation will fund a fatality prevention forum next fall in Pittsburgh that will be available to the region’s safety professionals. IUP’s faculty will organize the event.
