Dr. Susan G. Poorman, Department of Nursing and Allied Health Professions, recently published an article with co-authors Melissa L. Mastorovich and Cheryl A. Webb entitled “Helping Students Who Struggle Academically: Finding the Right Level of Involvement and Living With Our Judgments.”
The article was published in Nursing Education Perspectives, November/December 2011, and addresses findings from a three-year study that examined how teachers help and hinder students who struggle academically. Thirty nurse educators from eighteen schools of nursing shared stories of how they helped and hindered their academically at-risk students.
