While graduating students are picking up their caps and gowns at the Salute to Grads event, they will be invited to make a gift of $20.11 to the Senior Giving Campaign. Those who do will be given a philanthropy cord to be worn during the ceremony. Gifts may be designated for use by any program or department on campus or made in honor of a professor or coach.
The double-knotted crimson and gray philanthropy cord signifies the reciprocal commitment between IUP and its alumni.
“Gifts from our students are especially significant. Students that make gifts understand the role that philanthropy plays in their daily life at IUP. They are ready to give back, even before they leave. It’s a great program that our office is working to expand each year,” said Emily Smeltz, director of Annual Giving.

Salute to Grads will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Co-op Store. Commencement takes place December 17.
