One hundred percent of IUP's student phonathon staff supports the IUP Annual Fund.
All of IUP’s student phonathon callers, when they make solicitation phone calls in the course of each evening, can now ask the alumni and friends that they call to “join them” in making a gift to the university. The student-staffed phonathon reached 100 percent participation in the student giving initiative last week, and because they have done so, the Office of Annual Giving staff will personally match their gifts, dollar for dollar.
The IUP Phonathon calls alumni, parents, and friends of the university Sunday through Thursday evenings. Students are afforded the opportunity to network with alumni, update their information, and relay updates about the university while doing the important work of securing financial support. “It’s never too early to understand the importance of philanthropy here at IUP,” said Emily Smeltz, director of Annual Giving. “Private support helps to enable IUP to provide a high-quality education while maintaining affordable tuition. Our student callers understand how important it is—so much so that they each made their own gift. They are imparting this message to our alumni and friends and, we hope, to their fellow classmates. ”
