The Lively Arts, which presents over one hundred performance events annually and is a program of the IUP College of Fine Arts, has streamlined the ticket purchasing process for all of its events. This includes the touring Broadway performance of In the Heights being performed this Friday, October 21, 2011. The changes were made as a response to concerns voiced last semester by the student body as well as the Student Cooperative Board.
Last year, students were limited to one ticket per I-Card for major touring events. When these tickets were purchased at the Hadley Union Building, students would not receive their ticket until the night of the event. This required students to stand in line twice—lines that were often long and slow-moving. This system also prevented students from being able to sit with friends unless that friend was also standing in line at the same time.
This year, students with an activity fee-paid I-Card may purchase up to four tickets in advance at the Hadley Union Building. They will receive their tickets when they are purchased at the HUB, eliminating the need to stand in line again the day of the performance. This also allows for a student to purchase tickets for friends without the others in the group needing to also wait in line.
Tickets for many events have also been lowered for I-Card holders. I-Card ticket prices for the various season events for the new Ovations! series range from $10 up to $30, depending on the event and the seat. Tickets for others performance series, such as Theater-by-the-Grove, Sound Choices, Dance Theater, and Music Theater, are as low as $6 per seat with an I-Card.
A calendar of events and ticket prices is available online. Tickets for each event are also sold online. Tickets go on sale approximately thirty days before each event.
