Cowles Heads Center for Health and Well-Being

As the Fall 2011 semester begins, Malinda Cowles assumes the permanent post as executive director of the Center for Health and Well-Being.

Since 2008, Ms. Cowles has served as the interim executive director. She has been a member of the university community for twenty-three years, working in college health. She is an IUP alumna receiving a B.S. in Nursing and M.A. in Adult and Community Education. She has been certified as a critical care registered nurse, health education specialist, and HIV educator. She has been awarded multiple foundation, state, and federal grants totaling over $800,000.

She received the 2007 Graduate Dean’s Award for Outstanding Commitment to Sponsored Programs for the implementation of the Haven Project, a program that provides services to students who experience violence. She has served on multiple university committees including the University Senate, where she is currently a member of the Rules Committee. Ms. Cowles also serves as associate dean of Students for Health and Well-Being, working directly with Vice President Rhonda Luckey.
