The annual Homecoming Concert, presented by the IUP Bands, will be performed on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. The concert, which features the IUP Concert Band, Symphony Band, and Wind Ensemble, will be performed in Fisher Auditorium of the IUP Performing Arts Center.
The music performed will span nearly a century, from Ralph Vaughan Williams’ classic “An English Folksong Suite,” dating from 1924, to a recent composition by Punxsutawney native Jim Colonna entitled “Dancing Day.” A highlight of the concert will be a performance of Vincent Persichetti's Symphony No. 6, written in 1956 by the Philadelphia native. The concert will also include two classic marches by Zo Elliott and Karl King.
The ensembles are conducted by IUP music faculty members Stephanie Caulder, Jason Worzbyt, and Jack Stamp.
Tickets are available in advance at the Hadley Union Building ticket office in September and are $9 regular admission, $8 for seniors age sixty-two and older, and $6 for students, children, and I-card holders. Tickets will also be sold at the door starting at 2:00 p.m. the day of the concert.
