Students and Alumnus Honored at 2011 Student Affairs in Higher Education Commencement

Over the 2011 Commencement weekend, several students and an alumnus from the Department of Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) were honored for their exceptional accomplishments and contributions.

On Thursday, May 5, at the annual department banquet, four awards were presented to students.

  • R.C. Stabile (’12) received the Get Involved! SAHE Leadership Award and a $250 scholarship established by Tom Baker (’05) and Erin Baker.
  • Kate Adams ('11) and Ashley Fowler (’11) each received the Outstanding Scholar award for their respective achievements and for their ability to enhance the learning environment for their colleagues.
  • Kelly Ogiba (’11) received the S. Trevor Hadley Outstanding Student Award for her accomplishments as a student and her significant service to the campus and the community. 
  • Colleen Ruefle was presented with the Ronald Lunardini Distinguished Alumni Award.  Colleen is a 1989 graduate of the Student Personnel Services program.  She is currently the vice president for Student Life and dean of Students at La Roche College in Pittsburgh, Pa.

On Saturday, May 7, at the SAHE Department commencement program, Kelly Ogiba ('11) delivered the commencement address. SAHE students and faculty annually select commencement speakers based on their excellent speaking skills and ability to represent their classmates.
