The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters are recognizing five Global Spectrum-managed venues, including the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex, that broke turnstile records during the team’s 2011 “4 Times the Fun” North American tour, which wrapped up on April 17, with a custom-made Spalding “Money Ball.”

The Globetrotters presented three different types of awards: A platinum ball for setting a record at the box office for three consecutive seasons; a gold ball for setting a record at the box office for back-to-back seasons; and a red, white, and blue ball for first-time record breakers.

The James Brown Arena in Augusta, Ga., received a platinum ball, while the Roanoke Civic Center in Roanoke, Va., received a gold ball. The Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex in Indiana, Pa., Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, N.J.; and the Fargodome in Fargo, N.D., all received red, white, and blue balls.

“Global Spectrum prides itself in exceeding our clients’ expectations,” said Global Spectrum Chief Operating Officer John Page. “This type of accolade by the Globetrotters is a reflection of the hard-working, dedicated marketers we have at all of our venues who collectively work together as a single marketing department to the benefit of all of our venues nationwide.”

The Harlem Globetrotters featured their own version of the “Money Ball” throughout the tour, with the addition of an exciting new innovation, the first four-point shot in basketball history. Every Globetrotters game featured four designated four-point circles (two on each side of the midcourt), each located thirty-five feet from the basket (twelve feet beyond the NBA’s three-point arc).

Global Spectrum, the fastest growing firm in the public assembly facility management field with more than ninety facilities throughout the United States and Canada, manages the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex at IUP. The 5,000-seat, multipurpose venue is home to the IUP Crimson Hawks.
