The Management Services Group (MSG) celebrated its twentieth anniversary on April 26, 2011, at the
Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
MSG and the
Indiana County Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the event in conjunction with Business after Hours, the chamber’s networking program for Indiana professionals.
MSG was established in 1991 and is an umbrella organization for seven separate outreach programs housed in the
Eberly College of Business and Information Technology (ECOBIT).
The event, intended to raise awareness about MSG’s work in the region, attracted about 150 guests, according to Ellen Ruddock, director of the
Center for Family Business, a component of the MSG.
“The celebration was a great way of kicking off the goal of building awareness for the business community,” she said.
During the event, IUP President David Werner and Eberly College Dean Robert Camp recognized the accomplishments of MSG and its importance to the economic vitality of the region.
The following MSG personnel were recognized at the event: Dr. Prashanth Bharadwaj, ECOBIT dean’s associate and
Small Business Institute faculty member; Dr. Robert Boldin, director of the
Small Business Incubator and codirector of MSG; Dr. Thomas Falcone, former codirector of MSG; Richard Hoover, a
Small Business Development Center consultant; Ronald Moreau, director of the
Government Contracting Assistance Program; Dr. Stephen Osborne, codirector of SBI; Anthony Palamone, director of the SBDC; Eric Palmer, codirector of the
Excellence in Entrepreneurial Leadership Center; Ruddock; Cathy Smith, secretary for MSG; and Dr. Joette Wisnieski, assistant director of SBI and codirector of ExcEL.
Also honored at the event was the Homer-Center girls’ basketball team for its advancement to the PIAA Class A playoffs during the 2010–2011 season.
