A 1966 Eberly College of Business and Information Technology graduate received the IUP Distinguished Alumni Award for Service on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at a black-tie gala.
Ellen Ruddock has worked as the director of IUP’s Center for Family Business for three years. The center was created in 1997 and works with small business owners on succession planning, leadership development, financial strategies, personal productivity, and motivational management, according to the center’s website.
“It was very humbling to receive the award,” Ruddock said. “The whole weekend was a delight for me and my family.”
Ruddock has thirty years of experience, and started owning a business in 1975. She hopes the award will enhance her credibility with business owners, she said.
The award recognizes alumni who have achieved distinction through performance in their field or have provided service to IUP.
“I think the award was very meaningful to the center in that is shows that my commitment to IUP is very strong,” she said.
