Teacher of the Year Gives Keynote Address to Kappa Delta Pi

The Beta Gamma chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, international honor fraternity in education, held its initiation ceremony at IUP on April 9, 2011. Mr. Jeffrey Chou, 2011 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year, was the keynote speaker.

Honored at this ceremony were faculty members Dr. Kelli Paquette, Professional Studies in Education, Service to Chapter Award, and Dr. Susan Fello, Professional Studies in Education, Excellence in Education Award.

Dr. Mary Ann Rafoth, dean of the College of Education and Educational Technology, presented awards to three Kappa Delta Pi members. Allyson Hegarty, co-president, received the Dean’s Leadership Award. Receiving the Dean’s Chapter Service Award were Daniel Reichard, treasurer, and Heather Stauffer, membership chair, publicity chair, and website chair.

Mr. Chou is a sixth-grade teacher from Highland Elementary School in the Abington School District in Montgomery County.

Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor fraternity in education and is celebrating its centennial anniversary this year.
