National Library Week Events at Stapleton Library

Every year, libraries across the county celebrate National Library Week with special events.

Here is what IUP Libraries have planned for April 9–15, 2011.

Music in the Orendorff Commons

Used Book Sale

  • What: Thousands of gently used books on sale
  • When: Wednesday, April 13, and Thursday, April 14 (8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.)
  • Where: First floor of Stapleton Library

Wage Equity Common Freshman Reader Panel

  • What: In honor of Pay Equity Day, a panel discussion on wage equity featuring Dr. Allyson M. Lowe, Ph.D., chair of Political Science at Carlow University and Dr. Kay Snyder, Professor of Sociology at IUP.
    Sponsored by IUP Libraries and the President’s Commission on the Status of Women.
  • When: Thursday, April 14 (6:00–7:30 p.m.)

Library Video Contest

  • What: The Library Video Contest invites students to make a video to highlight the many ways they use the library and its resources. Winners will receive gift certificates for the Co-op Store.
  • When: Deadline for entries is April 14, 2011. Winners will be notified on Friday, April 15, 2011.

Library Displays

  • What: IUP Libraries will feature three display windows celebrating National Library Week:
    • “Don't Be Afraid to Read! @ Your Library,” with books by genre from the Library's Schafer Collection
    • “My Story @ Your Library,” with favorite book selections of the children from the IndiKids Early Care and Education Center
    • “The Library Suits Me to a Tea,” highlighting books and items related to tea.
