David Werner, interim president of IUP, will welcome faculty and students from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to the luncheon of the Psychology Potluck conference on Saturday, October 23, 2010.

The conference, being held in Uhler Hall from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., was organized by the Psychology Department faculty.

The idea of a Potluck is to bring your best “dish” and share it with others. The conference, the first of its type, will feature the best research conducted by faculty and students in many areas of psychology from various PASSHE universities. Among the topics represented are sexual desire, time pressure, humanistic therapy, memory for flavors, teaching, and sports fans.

A keynote address delivered by Krys Kaniasty, IUP, at 9:00 a.m. is entitled “United or Divided? Social Psychological Reactions to Natural Disasters, Technological Catastrophes, Acts of Violence, and Terror.”

The luncheon, which features a welcome and remarks from President Werner, will be held in the Allegheny Room at the Hadley Union Building.

Individuals registered for the conference are invited to a potluck dinner and film screening in Uhler Hall on Friday, October 22.

Preregistration runs through October 12, and costs $10 for students. Checks can be made payable to Foundation for IUP and sent to Margaret Reardon (Uhler 304). You can also register at the door for $5 more ($15/student).
