The all-student production crew that covers the IUP football season and home conference men’s and women’s basketball games is receiving national attention. The 2010 production of the NCAA Atlantic Region playoff game against West Virgina State University has been selected by College Broadcasters, Inc., as one of four national finalists in the category of Live Game Production.

The winner will be announced at CBI’s national conference in October 2010.

The 2009–2010 game highlights of football and basketball games have garnered over 100,000 views on IUP’s YouTube channel and IUP-TV Sports’ Facebook site. Three of the men’s basketball plays were selected for the Top Ten Plays of the Week featured on ESPN SportsCenter, and another play received “2 Cheers” on ESPN’s SportsNation. The sports production crew was also given a yearly “behind the scenes” tour of CBS Sports production setups at Heinz Field for Steelers’ games.

The 2010 IUP football games live webcasts are averaging 600 viewers per game, an all-time record since IUP webcasting began three years ago. NBC Sunday Night Football has requested footage of Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, who was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys.

David Lind, Communications Media Department, is the executive producer for IUP-TV Sports Productions. He has been invited to be a presenter on three different panel discussions for the Sports Video Group’s “College Sports Video Summits” and a panelist for SVG’s Digital Summit. He also serves on SVGU’s advisory board, and is a judge for SVG’s annual awards for sports productions produced by the networks and cable sports channels.
