For more than 150 years, IUP has served as an educational partner in meeting the workforce needs of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, preparing students for careers through undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well as specialized training and credentialing opportunities.
In celebration of National Workforce Development Day, IUP is highlighting the important role of its Criminal Justice Training Center in preparing professionals who serve and protect communities across Pennsylvania.
Best known for its Municipal Police Officer Certification Program (Act 120) and celebrating 50 years, the CJTC has graduated more than 100 municipal police officers in the past two years. The center’s workforce impact extends well beyond police officer training. During that same period, almost 1,800 individuals have completed training and earned credentials through programs including School Safety Personnel (Act 67), Lethal Weapons Training (Act 235), Instructor Development Certification, Officer In-Service Training (Act 180), and other specialized programs.
As we celebrate National Workforce Development Day, IUP recognizes and thanks the Criminal Justice Training Center for its continued commitment to preparing skilled professionals and helping meet the workforce needs that are essential to keeping Pennsylvania communities safe.
