For the fourteenth year, members of Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Greek community—its 24 fraternities and sororities—continued a holiday tradition of helping families in the Indiana community.

During the month of November, the IUP students raised a total of $4,145.80 for the Salvation Army of Indiana County’s Red Kettle campaign. The Red Kettle campaign raises funds during the holiday season to meet the needs of Indiana County community members and families.

“We can’t thank the Greek community at IUP enough for their time and effort to raise money for our Red Kettle campaign,” said Captain Erin Rischawy. “Their dedication to the Indiana community is truly felt through this annual donation.”

About 200 students participated in the annual fundraising event. Students from the IUP Greek community have raised almost $58,000 over the last 14 years of the collection drive.

“The fraternity and sorority members look forward to supporting the Red Kettle effort every year, especially since it benefits the Indiana community,” said IUP Assistant Director of Fraternity-Sorority Life Betsy Sarneso. “It’s part of the strong commitment our 24 Greek chapters have in supporting local and national philanthropies.”

Approximately 800 students are members of IUP sorority and fraternity chapters.
