The spirit of giving is being felt across campus as a food drive and a clothing drive were sponsored by Indiana University of Pennsylvania staff and student organizations.

AFSCME Food Drive 2014

IUP AFSCME Local 763 union members sponsored a food drive to support Indiana County food banks and the Indiana County Animal Shelter.

More than 400 pounds of food and nonperishable items were donated to the Indiana County Community Action Program food bank and pet food and pet supplies to the Indiana County Animal Shelter along with cash donations.

The organization will send $720 in gift certificates to several other nonprofit organizations, including the Newman Center, Chevy Chase Community Center, and Salvation Army.

The Child and Family Studies Association collected gently used clothing and toiletries during the organization's 2014 clothing drive for homeless families and children in Indiana and surrounding counties.

Daniel Puhlman, faculty member in the Department of Child Development and Family Relations, is the advisor to the group. The donations were given to the Armstrong-Indiana Intermediate Unit 28 homeless program.
