English professor Claude Mark Hurlbert was selected for the list of top university professors on RateMyProfessors.com. Hurlbert is eighth in the rankings.
RateMyProfessors.com is the largest website for rating professors, which is done entirely by students. The site includes professors from more than 7,500 schools.
“This award is incredible to me,” Hurlbert said. “Working with students is a very great honor, and to have this recognition from students means absolutely everything to me. It sanctions everything I try to do in the classroom. It is verification, and it is life-affirming. I am humbled by it.”
Students rate professors on criteria including clarity, helpfulness and the student's interest level before attending the class. Many students use the website as a reference when scheduling classes.
