IUP, in partnership with the Indiana Community University Collaborative and Indiana Borough, will have the second Hawk Walk on September 14, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The Hawk Walk is an event in which IUP students, faculty members, and administrators—in partnership with members of the collaborative group and Indiana Borough officials—go door-to-door in areas around the IUP campus that traditionally include student residents and welcome them to the community.

The walkers distribute information to residents about community services, Indiana Borough ordinances, and other information designed to increase student participation in community events.

Last year, the group visited 200 residences, and it has plans to visit 250 this year.

IUP's mascot, Norm, is scheduled to participate in the walk.

The Indiana Community University Collaborative, a grass roots organization of community and university leaders, works to recognize, mobilize, and celebrate student residents as local community assets and to promote student development as members of the community.
