IUP will host a program June 20–24, 2011, for children who have completed fifth or sixth grade titled “Why Aren't Manhole Covers Square?”

Dr. Yong Colen, a professor in IUP's Mathematics Department, will present the class, which is part of the program C-MITES, the Carnegie Mellon Institute for Talented Elementary and Secondary Students.

The class will focus on solving various mathematical problems, and students will work individually and in groups.

The program is from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. The application fee is $10, and the cost of the class is $460. Financial aid is available.
