The men's basketball team has advanced to the NCAA Atlantic Region championship game after defeating Bowie State 94-81 on Sunday, March 13, 2011.

The second-seeded Crimson Hawks will face tournament host and top seed West Liberty in the finals Tuesday, March 15, at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased in the IUP Athletics business office in Memorial Field House, Room 107A, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 14, and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students. One hundred adult tickets and fifty student tickets have been made available. There is no guarantee tickets will be available at the door.

The game will also be shown live on PennAtlantic.com and on IUP-TV (Comcast Channel 6).

In the opening seven minutes of the Bowie State game, the Crimson Hawks were down by 14 points but rallied back behind the scoring power of their guards.

Leading the Hawks were guards Ashton Smith with 24 points, Julian Sanders with 22 points, and Scooter Renkin with a career-high 14 points.

Darryl Webb, IUP's all-time leading scorer, was held off the board until hitting two free throws with 16:35 left in the game but still scored 11 points. Marcel Souberbielle contributed 10.

West Liberty defeated fourth-seeded Shaw 98-93 on Sunday to reach Tuesday's championship game.

IUP, the defending Atlantic Region champion, defeated West Liberty in last year's final.
